The New England Patriots have solidified the core of their attacking lineup, successfully signing a four-year contract extension with running guard Raymond Stevenson, with a total contract value of up to $36 million. According to NFL insiders, the new contract includes a guaranteed salary of $17 million, marking Stevenson’s central position in the team’s future plans.
During the mandatory mini training camp, Stevenson stated that he was “very close” to the team in contract negotiations, and now this promise has finally been fulfilled. This renewed contract will keep Stevenson with the Patriots until 2028, providing him with stable professional security.
Stevenson’s new contract ranks seventh on the runner up salary chart, between Joe Mikson’s $9.875 million and Derek Henry and DeAndre Swift’s $8 million. The contract details show that Stevenson will receive a signing bonus of $8 million and has the opportunity to earn an additional $12 million through a series of incentive measures starting from 2025. These incentives include running at least 1400 yards during the season and earning professional bowl or full professional team honors.
Stevenson’s performance in the 2022 season was remarkable, as he ran a total of 1040 yards and received the ball to create 421 yards. Considering the incentive clause in his new contract, his challenge of hitting 1461 melee codes next season will be a noteworthy milestone. Although Stevenson only participated in 12 games and ran 857 yards due to injury in 2023, the Patriots are full of confidence in his recovery ability and look forward to him returning to his peak form.
This 26 year old player played a crucial role in the Patriots’ backcourt, complementing the passing threat Antonio Gibson. Stevenson is not only good at sprinting, but his ability to catch the ball also makes him a versatile player in the team’s attacking tactics. As the 2024 season approaches, if Stevenson can maintain his health, he will undoubtedly become an important weapon for the Patriots on the offensive end.
