After a challenging season, 27 year old guard Oliver Killington officially signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanches on Monday. Although the specific financial terms have not yet been announced to the public, this news undoubtedly injects new vitality into Kirington’s career.
Last season, Killington performed well in 33 games for the Calgary Flames, scoring a total of 8 points, including 3 goals and 5 assists. However, due to mental health issues, he was unable to play in the 2022-23 season and did not return to the NHL until January 25th. Nevertheless, his perseverance and dedication to field hockey were widely recognized, making him a finalist for the Masterton Award. This award is presented annually to NHL players who demonstrate the most perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey, and is voted upon by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
