Justin Reid, the versatile defender of the Kansas City Chiefs, recently expressed his positive views on transitioning to a shooting expert in an interview with Chris Lang’s Green Light podcast, believing that this new role may bring him a career extension and greater income potential.
Reed, who has entered the seventh season of the NFL, is 27 years old and is in the golden period of his career. He revealed that becoming a professional kick-off expert not only allows him to continue playing his skills on the field, but may also open a new door to his income.
“This definitely brings new possibilities to my career,” Reed said through Chiefs Wire. “I may play for a few more years as a result. This new role not only allows me to continue to establish myself in the league, but from an economic perspective, this’ money window ‘is also quite considerable.”
Reed’s words highlighted the changes and challenges brought about by the new opening rules of the NFL. As the league considers adding a fourth penalty expert in the game, competition in this field is becoming increasingly fierce. “When we face top returning players like Terry Hill, they create a lot of trouble on the field,” Reed explained. “But with a tackler like me on the field, we can fill those potential gaps. This way, our defense will be more solid and it will be easier to win the game.”
In addition, Reed also pointed out that the new opening rules may change the rhythm and style of the game. He explained that nowadays football players tend to kick the ball lower in order to help them enter the game more quickly. This change may lead to more line driven methods, making the competition more intense and unpredictable.
“This is indeed a completely new field,” Reed said. “We are all exploring the best strategies. But I believe that teams that can quickly adapt and develop effective strategies will have an advantage in the future. Pre season matches will be a great testing ground, let’s see which methods can truly work.”
