In the long river of history, the Baltimore Ravens are about to open a new chapter in uniform innovation. This Tuesday, the team officially announced its highly anticipated backup helmet – “Purple Rise”, marking the team’s first attempt at a purple helmet in nearly 30 years, marking the Ravens’ commitment to tradition and innovation.
The release of this helmet is due to the relaxation of uniform rules related to headwear by NFL, allowing the Ravens to boldly try new designs. This helmet features an elegant purple shell paired with a metallic satin finish, not only highlighting a sense of fashion, but also presenting the team’s claw stripes in gold, preserving the team’s classic aesthetic elements. The introduction of golden masks is the finishing touch, presenting the third team color in a striking way in front of fans.
On both sides of the new helmet, the crow team chose the secondary emblem – the forward facing crow emblem as decoration. There is a simple and wise logic behind this choice: placing infrequently used logos in a prominent position not only showcases the diversity of the team, but also allows fans to generate more topics and discussions about this new helmet.
“The design of this helmet will definitely be the focus,” Brad Downs, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Ravens, said on the team’s program. “Although we use this logo less frequently, it will become an iconic element of the game day experience. We believe it’s time to make this logo shine on the helmet.”
In addition to providing new uniform options for the team, this new helmet also injects new vitality into the Crows’ Color Rush uniform. The Color Rush uniform has not been able to fully showcase its charm since its debut in 2016. Now, with the addition of new helmets, this uniform has finally been fully presented, bringing fans a brand new visual experience.
It is revealed that the Ravens team plans to wear this new helmet and existing Color Rush uniform for the first time in a game in 2024. The team fully considered the feedback from fans when deciding on this design, striving to find elements that truly attract them.
“We have been listening to the voices of our fans and striving to find what they truly like,” said the person in charge of the Ravens team. “We are full of anticipation for this moment. We know that fans have a high voice for it. They like new things, but we will not forget the team’s traditions. We hope to bring surprises to our fans with this new helmet, while also demonstrating our respect and love for tradition.”
Since the establishment of the Ravens in 1996, black helmets have been the team’s iconic equipment. Although there have been some minor adjustments to the appearance, the core design has remained unchanged. Now, with the appearance of the “Purple Rise” helmet, the Crows have once again proven that they not only have the determination to stick to tradition, but also the courage to innovate. Although this new helmet will only be unveiled once in 2024, the positive feedback from the players indicates that it will become a regular for the team in the future.
